Stamped & Tooled Sterling Silver Onyx Ring with Makers Mark
This stamped and tooled sterling silver onyx ring, bearing a clear maker's mark, blends traditional Native American silversmithing with a bold, contemporary silhouette; the deep black onyx cabochon is set in a hand-forged bezel and framed by intricate stamped patterns and tooled accents that catch light and emphasize the artisan’s attention to detail. The sterling silver has been carefully worked and polished to a warm patina that complements the stone’s smooth surface, while the maker’s mark—cleanly struck on the interior band—authenticates the piece and links it to a specific artist or workshop. Comfortable to wear yet striking in presence, this ring serves both as a wearable statement and a collectible example of skilled metalwork and gem-setting, suitable for everyday use or as a focal point in a curated jewelry collection.
Makers Mark: Hallmarked WOLF ROBE (stamped). "Chief Wolf Robe Hunt was a Native American painter, illustrator, silversmith and sculptor of the Acoma nation. He was born at the Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico in 1905. His family eventually left the Pueblo to travel with a Wild West show. After his marriage he settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he owned a shop on 11th Street (Route 66) and sold the silver jewelry he made to tourists and Tulsans alike. After the freeways caused traffic to bypass his shop, he opened a trading Post in Catoosa, Oklahoma across the highway from the Blue Whale water structure. There he continued selling his jewelry until his death in 1977." Taken from Ask Art.com.
